Anna Belle Baugh Brooks, 90, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 15, 1935, Anna was the daughter of Lloyd Phillip Baugh and Ethel McCann Baugh. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jean Baugh Dice; and her husbands, Clayton “Buddy” Oliver and Howard Brooks. Anna dedicated much of her career to VEPCO (now Dominion Virginia Power), where she served faithfully as a secretary until her retirement in 1994. A long-time member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, she found great joy in serving others—especially children. She taught both Sunday School and Children’s Church, served as church secretary, and participated on many committees over the years. Creative and generous by nature, Anna loved sewing, cross-stitching, an quilting—often gifting her handmade quilts to family and friends. She also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, tending to her garden and planting flowers each season. She found simple happiness in watching and feeding the cardinals and hummingbirds that gathered in her yard. Some of Anna’s happiest moments were spent traveling with her husband Howard, especially during their many camping trips to Nags Head. Anna is survived by her children, Clayton D. Oliver, Jr. (Christa), Tamara Wilson, and Keith Oliver (Melissa); her grandchildren, Jessica Emory, Marcus Emory (her devoted caregiver and companion for the past four years), Liam Hammond, Alyson Beacham, Matthew Wilson, Brandon Wilson, and Ricky Dale Wilson; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Anna will be remembered for her kind spirit, her devotion to family, and the love she shared so freely with everyone she met. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 3935 S. Crater Road Petersburg, Virginia 23895 with Pastor Jeff Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park S. Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home. After the interment a small gathering will be held at Nanny’s Restaurant, 11900 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 1201 Blackstone Avenue, Hopewell, Virginia 23860. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
