Arlene Frances Drewry, 84, of Disputanta, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026. Born February 9, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Francis Noel and Agnes Glennon Blake. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ann Viveiros, and her beloved daughter, Nancy Wyatt.
A dedicated and hardworking professional, Arlene retired from Philip Morris after more than 20 years of outstanding work in customer service. Always wanting to stay active and engaged with her community, she later took on a role as a receptionist for the Spotts Fain law firm. Her generous spirit and heart for serving others extended well beyond her working years, leading her to volunteer her time and comfort with Crater Community Hospice for nearly a decade.
Arlene was a faithful member of Oaklawn Baptist Church. In her free time, she was an avid reader who cherished every moment spent making memories and spending time with her family. She also had a deep love for the beach, holding a special lifelong attachment to the breathtaking coastal beaches of her home state of Rhode Island.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Lynn Pannill and husband, Mike; her grandchildren, Brent Pannill and wife, Lauren, Kristen Sutphin, Brooke Sutphin, and Abigail Osborn and wife, Jessie; and three great-grandchildren, Harper, Blake, and Wynn. She also leaves behind her beloved niece, Julie Barker and husband, Bryan, along with their children, Scott Keating and family, Joshua Keating and family, and Bryana Barker; as well as many other extended family members. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Arlene's hospice nurses, Valarie and Demetria, and the devoted staff at Autumn Care of Mechanicsville for their extraordinary compassion and care during her time of need.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3936 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Legacy Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
