Barbara Ann Babcock

Barbara Ann Babcock, 89, of Chester, VA, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Mrs. Babcock was the wife of the late Burk Lee Babcock and the daughter of the late Walter and Josie Louise Perdue.

Mrs. Babcock was also preceded in death by her sisters, Jean Crigger and Evelyn Perdue. She is survived by her children, David Babcock of Chester, Teresa Keeter and husband, Charles of Midlothian, Rose Oliver and husband, Richard of Chester, and Katherine Thompson and husband, Stephen of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Travis, April, Heather, Jason, Melissa, Michael, Brittany, and Kelly; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Noah, Manning, Grace, Madison, Claire, Jacob, Aria, Stark, Austin, and Isaac Henry; brothers, Jerry Lee Perdue, James Ray Perdue, and Richard Perdue and wife, Phyllis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including her special nephew, Lloyd whom she loved dearly.

Barbara worked for Chesterfield County Food Service for 30 years (1968-1997), preparing and serving lunch to children attending Curtis Elementary, Chester Middle, and Thomas Dale High School. She will be remembered for many things, but being the “glue” of our family is at the top of the list, preparing Sunday Dinner for all, crocheting blankets, and always there when we needed her. She loved her family endlessly and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will miss her dearly. Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, under the direction of Bishop Raoul Harmon. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
