Benedict "Dick" Noble Ward III

Benedict “Dick” Noble Ward, III, 78, of South Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Born in Washington, D.C. on May 24, 1945, he was the son of the late Benedict Noble Ward, Jr, and Mary Regina Murphy Ward. He was also preceded in death by his loving son, Benedict “Dickie” Noble Ward, IV, and special friend, Steven Horrell.

Dick worked in Washington, D.C. as a photo lithographer until his retirement in 1996. His love for cars brought him to work after retirement for AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, and O’Reilly Auto Parts. He was a past member of the Hopewell Ruritan Club. He loved to attend different car shows and was fascinated by old cars. Dick never knew a stranger and welcomed a new friend any day!

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharen A. Ward; his children whom he loved deeply, Denise Marie Ward Weber of Pomfret, MD, and David Joseph Ward and his wife, Joy of Chester, VA; beloved grandchildren, Rachel Denise Weber, David Joseph Ward, Jr. and his fiancé, Meganne Olson, and Jace Michael Ward; niece, Deborah H. Edwards and husband, David of Prince George, VA; aunt, Catherine “Aunt Rain Rain” Lorraine Agrafiotis of Pomfret, MD; special friend who is like a granddaughter, Jamielynn Grace Mottley; his sweet dog, Maggie Mae; and many other extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park, 1901 Bermuda Hundred Road Chester, Virginia 23836. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at the funeral home.
