Bonnie Avent Eichler, 81, of Richmond, VA, passed away at her home on May 11, 2024.
Bonnie was born on August 11, 1942, to Audrey Vernon Clark and Oscar William Avent in Petersburg, VA.
After Bonnie graduated from Petersburg High School in 1960, she went on to attend James Madison University. Later she also graduated from Richard Bland College in 1979 with an AS degree in Business Management. Later she also attended Virginia Commonwealth University graduating in 1988 with a BA degree in Psychology.
Bonnie enjoyed her successful career with the Department of Defense working in Acquisition Management at the Defense General Supply Center and at Fort Lee’s U.S. Army Logistics Management College.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, she was also very active for many years in the American Business Women’s Association, and also served a term as President of the Crystal Star Chapter of Richmond. In 1991 Bonnie was named the chapter’s Woman of the Year and she received the honor of being named one of the 1992 Top Ten Business Women of ABWA nationwide.
After retirement she continued working at Henricus Historical Park and later at Agecroft Hall & Gardens Museum on the Living History Staff.
Bonnie’s work and hobbies included her great interest in teaching historical educational programs designed with a focus for children. She was an avid counted cross stitcher and completed many beautiful and detailed pieces showcasing the historical buildings of Williamsburg, VA. She also enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her Mother, Audrey Creswell and Stepfather, Charles Creswell. She is survived by her son, Greg and his wife, Cyndi of Chestertown, MD. Two grandsons, Cody and Maggie, and new great granddaughter, Micah Jane of Millington, MD and Caleb and Olivia of Worton, MD.
Bonnie will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.
