Bryan Curtis Tipton from Richmond, Virginia, died suddenly in his home at the age of 61 on February 6, 2026. Bryan was the eldest son of Donald and Janet Tipton of Chester, Virginia, and was employed by Windstream Holding, Inc. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Dorian Tipton and Frank and Ruby Payne, his aunts Bonnie Tipton and Judy Payne, and his cousin Brad Payne.

Bryan is survived by his parents, Donald and Janet Tipton, brother Christopher and his wife Meg Tipton, niece Olivia Tipton, nephew Davin Tipton, aunt Judy Carrington, uncle Jim Payne, and several cousins.

Bryan was an avid sports enthusiast who followed the University of Virginia football and basketball. He loved to travel throughout the world to see sights in other countries, and he visited many United States national parks.

Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Bryan was raised in Colonial Heights, Virginia, where he attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Bryan graduated from Colonial Heights High School as co-valedictorian in 1982 and attended the University of Virginia, graduating with honors in 1986, earning a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. Bryan then attended Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1988.

A celebration of Bryan’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on  Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Ave, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Dr. Randy C. Clipp and Reverend Michael Burchard officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia.
