Clara Rivers Evans, 92, of Chester, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Born on November 7, 1933, in Durham, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late George F. Rivers and Myrtle Clarke Rivers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles W. Evans, Jr.; her son, John Paul; sisters, Doris Coleman, Bettie Mayes; and brother, Alfred Rivers.

Surviving her are her children, Donna Marie Evans, and Charles Evans (Teresa); daughter-in-law, Cheryl “Sherry” Evans; special niece, Marie Zier (Earl); and many other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with Pastor Wayne Porter. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
