Darrell Wayne McCabe, 70, of Disputanta passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, after a short period of declining health. Born September 24, 1954, he was the son of the late Jacqueline Scott and John Stanley McCabe, Sr., and was also preceded in death by his twin brother, David S. McCabe.
He was known by many and loved by all—a friend to everyone he met and “Uncle D” to many nieces and nephews. His warmth, generosity, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
After many years of loyal and dedicated service, he retired from Kellogg Brown and Root, where his strong work ethic and steady presence earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
A proud member of the Loyal Order of Eagles and the NRA, he found great joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a founding member of the Horseshoe Hunt Club, where he spent countless days doing what he loved most—connecting with nature and sharing stories with lifelong friends.
He especially loved time by the ocean, often retreating to the beach for peace, reflection, and fun in the sun. But more than anything, he cherished his family. His nieces and nephews were the light of his life, and the affection they held for “Uncle D” was deep.
He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation—a truly compassionate soul with a heart as big as his laugh.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Sandra Clodfelter McCabe; brother, John S. McCabe and wife, Helen; brother-in-law, David Clodfelter; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
