May 26, 1954 — July 6, 2025

Chester

David George Hitchcock, 71, of Chester passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Born May 26, 1954, he was the son of the late Durward Thorpe and Catherine Elizabeth Hitchcock.

A graduate of Colonial Heights High School, Class of 1972, David went on to carve out a truly unique path in life. He was a professional magician and clown, having graduated from clown college.

David was more than just an entertainer; he was a compassionate and giving soul. As a member of the Shriners, he used his talents to brighten the lives of children facing some of life’s toughest challenges, volunteering regularly at the Shriners Children’s Hospital as a clown. For those kids, David wasn’t just a visitor—he was a beam of joy in an otherwise difficult day.

He also served as president of the Brotherhood of Magicians, earning the respect of fellow performers for his dedication to the craft and his willingness to mentor up-and-coming magicians. David was also a proud Freemason, living a life grounded in brotherhood, integrity, and service.

He is survived by his children, Kacy Hitchcock and Dylan Hitchcock; brothers, Dennis Hitchcock and wife, Jamie, Mark Hitchcock; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Interment will be private. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Online condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
