David Eric Hurst

David Eric Hurst 77, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Hurst. He is survived by his wife, Lydia Sager Hurst, and his son, Derek Hurst. He is also survived by his mother, Juanita (Bobbie) Hurst; sister Linda Lasure (William); numerous nieces and nephews; and step son, Christopher Hall. 

David was a graduate of Mount Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated from West Virginia University in 1968. He served in the U.S Army from 1969 through 1975 and was a Vietnam Veteran. Upon his discharge, he entered civil service and served until his retirement in 2015. David had a great love of nature, animals and his family. 

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will be at a later date in Pennsylvania.
