It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Dr. Dennis Ray Carpenter on November 24, 2023. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed forensic psychologist, Dr. Carpenter's departure leaves an indelible void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1948, Dr. Carpenter spent his formative years in North Hollywood, CA. In 1968, he enlisted in the Navy, embarking on a distinguished 22-year career of Active Duty. Stationed in various locations, including San Diego, Treasure Island, Mare Island, Norfolk, Pearl Harbor, Lemoore, Port Hueneme, and wintering over in Antarctica, he served with dedication and honor, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander.

While serving in the Navy, Dr. Carpenter pursued higher education, attending college courses in the evenings and weekends. His unwavering commitment led to the attainment of a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the University of San Francisco. Subsequently, he earned his doctorate from the Forest Institute of Psychology, marking the beginning of a prolific career in forensic psychology.

Dr. Carpenter's professional journey extended beyond the confines of his practice. Renowned and highly regarded, he collaborated with numerous professionals in the legal and mental health fields. His expertise earned him respect as an esteemed expert in forensic psychology.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Carpenter found solace in his hobbies. An avid collector of antique radios and Popeye memorabilia, he also had a passion for LGB trains. He acquired a beloved 1995 Ferrari 348, a testament to his appreciation for fine automobiles.

In the midst of his busy life, Dr. Carpenter cherished moments with his family. He and his wife, Menthia, enjoyed family vacations, particularly on Sanibel Island, where they eventually purchased a condo. Their shared love for the island became a cherished tradition, providing years of joyful memories and the discovery of Menthia's newfound passion for seashells…where she was often called a Seashell Hoar...der.

Dr. Carpenter's legacy lives on through the joyous memories of family vacations, lake house adventures, scuba diving escapades, camping trips, Indy Car races, and the simple pleasures of being "PaPa" to his grandchildren. His profound impact on the lives he touched will forever be remembered with gratitude and love.

Dr. Dennis Ray Carpenter is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Menthia; children, Andrew Ray Carpenter (Laura Weller) and Jessica Johnson; grandchildren, Carter Laine (U.S. Navy), Virginia Johnson (Naval Academy), Evan Ray Johnson (U.S. Marine Corp), Annie Johnson, and Amrina Rayne Carpenter; brother, Ron Carpenter (Marilyn); sister, Linda Church; and numerous nieces and nephews.
