Dennis Gilbert Nugent Sr, 95, of Chesterfield, VA peacefully passed away on December 8,2025. He was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church; he was active in the Men’s Methodist Association at both Wesley and Ettrick and was always willing to lend a hand where needed. Dennis proudly served his country as a Merchant Marine and later in the U.S. Army. After his service, he spent many dedicated years as a skilled pipefitter with Honeywell. He also valued community involvement and was a committed member of the American Legion and the Ruritan Club. Known for his love of the outdoors, Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the quiet moments those hobbies brought. In his younger years, he played baseball for the Woodpecker Lodge and carried those memories with pride. He and his beloved wife, Barbara, shared a lifetime of travel and adventure, especially cherishing their time in New Orleans and Sedona, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Gilbert Nugent Jr.; his wife, Barbara M. Nugent; his parents, Curtis and Allice; his sister, Barbara Mundy; and his nephew, Kenneth Mundy. Dennis is survived by his son, Wendell Grey Nugent, and his niece, Susan Martin. He will be remembered for his steady kindness, strong work ethic, and deep dedication to family, faith, and community. In lieu of flowers can be made to SPCA of Colonial Heights, VA or an organization of your choice.
