Listen to Obituary

Dianne Maitland Hack, 76, passed away on August 18, 2026. She was born in Petersburg, Virginia, on March 21, 1950, to the late Kathleen Turner and Thomas Bernard Maitland, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burrell Conrad “Connie” Hack, and daughters Cathy and Linda.

During her early career, Dianne worked in the Petersburg banking industry. Following her marriage to Connie, she worked alongside her husband in the car business at Connie Hack Buick, Mazda and Nissan, and later as the Vice President and Office Manager of Connie Hack Cars.

She was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church in the Petersburg area at Third, Ferndale and Second Presbyterian Churches.

One of Dianne’s greatest joys was sharing time with her family and friends. She was a lifelong Redskins fan, but she also loved her NATS, NASCAR, and VA TECH sports. When not physically together during games or races, she loved to exchange texts with loved ones watching elsewhere. She was a prolific jigsaw puzzle aficionado, and remembered every special occasion with a card.

Dianne is survived by her sister, Kay Maitland Taillon and husband Roger; three grandsons, Cody Hevener, Curtis Hevener, Jacob Hevener; great grandson, Jackson Hevener; nieces, Betsy Taillon, Carrie Fuentes and husband Chris, Jen Gould and husband Allen, Stacy Sandry; nephew Tom Taillon and wife Katie; son-in-law Scott Hevener and wife Toshia; and other extended family and good friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Rd., Petersburg, VA 23805. Online condolences may be registered to www.ealvinsmall.com.
