Dolores Roberta Martin, affectionately also known as Dee, Miss Dee or Momma, age 72 of Chester, Virginia, passed away peacefully, mid-day on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025. She spent her final months, cared for at home, as she wished, by her loving and devoted son Jason and daughter-n-law Jen.

Born Dolores Roberta Henderson, on June 26th, 1953 in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Kilmarnock, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Virgil Henderson, Sr., her mother, Elsie Louise Dameron Henderson, the father of her sons, Berend Poppen, and her husband, Donald Glenn Martin. She is survived by her eldest son Jason Brian Poppen and wife Jen, her youngest son Benjamin Scott Poppen, his two sons, Noah and Kash Poppen and her two brothers, Larry and Danny Henderson.

Dolores had a highly respected work ethic. She was a KFC franchise owner, she and Don were business owners of a construction company, and she retired from Food Lion where she managed and was known for her leadership and warm-hearted nature.

She will be remembered for the unwavering love and support she carried for her boys. She leaves behind legacy for being an avid bowler, as a member of the United States Bowling Commission, she spent at least one day a week at Holiday Bowl. She travelled the world, taking more than a dozen trips with Carnival Cruise Lines.

There will not be a service held, as it would go against her wishes. Some of her ashes will be spread at White Stone Beach on the Rappahannock River where she spent her childhood.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Online condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
