Following graduation, she began working at Petersburg General Hospital where she remained for 42 years. Working in every department of the hospital at some point during her tenure, she retired as the Patient Care Supervisor.   Dottie was proud to be a nurse and thankful to have cared for so many over the years.

She also used her gifts of service and caregiving as she proudly and enthusiastically served as a volunteer with the Ettrick-Matoaca Rescue Squad.

She enjoyed many activities including bowling, playing cards, jigsaw, and crossword puzzles, traveling, and her favorite, reading.  Dot was a voracious reader.

As a member of Community of Christ Church – Chester Congregation, Dot served in different capacities such as housing and feeding the homeless and hosting Ft. Lee personnel for the Thanksgiving meal.

She enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach, her girlfriends in the “Golden Girls” and the Retired Nurses group.  Her family will always cherish and remember the fun they had making her laugh, the wonderful food she made, and her generous, giving spirit.  She will be deeply missed.
