Dorothy Ann Miller

Dorothy Ann Miller, 81, of Colonial Heights passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Born December 21, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Irene Freeman, and was also preceded in death by her brother, Warren Freeman; and sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Jones.

Dorothy was a remedial reading teacher’s aide for the Petersburg School System, who retired after 28 ½ dedicated years of service. She was a proud member of the American Legion Post 284.

Dorothy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Richie Byrd Miller; five Children, Samuel R. Miller and wife, Donna, Ronald B. Miller and wife, Becky, Karen Lee Brown and husband, Mark, Teresa L. Brooks and husband, Stuart, Laurie A. Rumpf; eight Grandchildren, Tiffany Curran and husband, Mike, Lance Miller and wife, Laura, Dawn Miller, Ross Miller and wife, Tracy, Megan Crain and husband, Jason, Marissa Rumpf, Jenny Lauer, Natasha Lauer; six great grandchildren, Daxton, Callen, Cole, Gwen, Samuel, Abby; brother,  Lawrence Freeman  and wife, Sharon; two sisters, Eleanor Lovell, Judy Kaufman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002.
