Dorothy "Dot" Rhodes

Dorothy “Dot” Turner Rhodes, 86, of Colonial Heights passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Born July 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Frank Lee and Mabel Lee Turner, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Rhodes; sons, Franklin Everette Rhodes, David Scott Rhodes; sister, Shirley Beasley; and son-in-law William J. Newsome.

She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. After 45 years of dedicated service to her community, she retired as a Registered Nurse from Patrick Henry Hospital in Newport News. Dot enjoyed working in her garden and loved reading books. When her health declined and she was no longer able to read, she started listening to audiobooks.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Cynthia R. Newsome; grandson, James E. Newsome II and wife, Megan; granddaughter, Kelle Spinos and husband, Dominick; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Jo Newsome, Dominick Emmett Spinos; and other extended family members. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Crater Community Hospice for their exceptional care of Mrs. Rhodes in her time of need and also to the many dear friends who have touched her life throughout the years.
