Douglas Martin Gross, 84, of Hopewell, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, following a rapid decline in his health. Born on August 4, 1941, in Pennsylvania, Douglas lived a life marked by faith, service, dedication to family, and a strong work ethic.

Douglas proudly served in the Navy Reserves, demonstrating his commitment to his country. He later earned an associate’s degree, which supported a career as a draftsman and engineering designer specializing in industrial processing systems. His precision, problem-solving mindset, and attention to detail shaped a long and respected professional journey.

Faith was central to Douglas’s life. He was a devoted member of The Heights Baptist Church, where he actively supported volunteer opportunities and contributed to the Celebrate Recovery ministry, offering encouragement to others through compassion and quiet strength.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Lura Gross, and his uncle, Allen Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Gross; his sons and their wives, Andrew and Christy Gross, and Sam and Kelly Gross; his grandchildren, Tyler and his wife, Mckenzie, Jordan, Mitchell, and Garrett; and his sister, Jackie Strickland. Douglas cherished his family deeply, and his legacy continues through the values and memories he leaves behind.
