Eli Alexander Freeman

November 24, 2010 — May 9, 2024

N. Dinwiddie

The most loving, considerate, and respectful young man has gone to be with his Lord Jesus Christ. Eli Alexander Freeman passed away unexpectedly at his home in Dinwiddie, Virginia on Thursday, May 9, at the age of 13. He lived his life to the fullest until his very last day. He was born on November 24, 2010 to Keith and Stephanie Freeman. Comfort can be found with the grace and knowledge that we can and will see Eli again in Heaven because he asked the Lord Jesus to be his Savior on April 4, 2017.

Eli’s life was not taken in vain; it is to be a testament of faith and trust. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

John 13:7 emphasizes growing in understanding and servanthood. It is a picture of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet and Simon Peter questioning Him. “Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.” Keith, Eli’s father, said, “Eli was a servant to all, both big and small” just like Jesus came to serve.

Eli won first place in preaching at the Old Dominion Association of Church Schools Regional Competition this year. He loved all sports with basketball being his favorite. He was on the junior varsity basketball team at Gill Grove Baptist School. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend, always making conversation with his unique and winsome sense of humor. He was known to always be helpful, compassionate, and smiling. His Nanny said, “He was the most kind, loving and respectful young man I’ve ever been around.” His memory will always be cherished, and his absence will be deeply felt.

In addition to his parents Keith and Stephanie, he is survived by his sisters, Ella (Mark) Langowski and niece Oaklynne, Emma, and Eva; his brothers, Ethan and Ean; grandparents William and Myrtle Seay; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by beloved grandparents Vernell Freeman and Bill Freeman and great-grandmother Francis Seay.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Gill Grove Baptist Church, 10726 River Rd, Chesterfield, VA 23838, officiated by Pastor John Mark Brothers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Gill Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Please join our family in this celebration of life given to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. “Dear Lord, we don’t know how You’ll make a way, but we know You will.” Thank You, Lord for being close to the brokenhearted. Our family and friends covet your prayers.
