Elizabeth Joyce Fralic Allen, known to her family and friends as “Betty” passed away peacefully at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation of Danville, Virginia on February 16, 2023. She was born March 23, 1933 in Mount Vernon New York. She was the daughter of the late Leith and Margaret Fralic, she was also preceded by her husband, Hollis “Ray” Allen, a son Kevin L. Allen and a daughter in law, Debra K. Allen.
Betty was a devoted Catholic and a longtime member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was retired from C&P Telephone Company. She was very proud of her job and was the editor of the newsletter for C&P Telephone Company. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Preceptor. Betty’s favorite memory is when she was crowned Beta Sigma Phi’s Sweetheart. Betty was also a “Queen” of the Red Hat Ladies of Colonial Heights. Betty was a lifetime member of The Fraternal Order of the Eagles Women’s Auxiliary #882. Betty loved being on the computer and playing games with people from around the world. She loved to travel and has been to amazing countries with her best friends. She never met a stranger and always had people laughing. She loved to dance and was a professional dancer in New York.
Betty is survived by her son, James D. Allen Sr, of Colonial Heights, VA; son, Robert W. Allen and his wife, Ann J. Allen, of Colonial Heights, VA; daughter, Margaret A. Howell and her husband RD Howell, Jr of Danville, VA; sister, Margo F. Holmes and her husband James Holmes of Somers, New York; ten grandchildren, Jessica, Vanessa, Mary, James Jr, Victoria, Kristine, Robby, Lyle, Doug and Donovan; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren, Brandon, Landon, Jaxon, Lillian, Brittany, Kayla and Collins; and close family, the Hiles.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on February 27, 2023, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, South Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, starting at 12:00 noon.
