Elizabeth Dean

Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Dean, 59, of Colonial Heights, Virginia passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Born on July 4, 1962, in Virginia, she was the daughter of Thomas Edwin Dean Sr. and Kathleen Williams Dean. Liz is preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen and her son, Kevin Dean Crocker.

Liz was a very strong, cheerful, and energetic woman who had a heart of gold and would help others who needed a helping hand. She was a devoted mother to her two boys, Lee and Kevin, whom she loved more than words could express. She devoted 40 years to the state of Virginia as a business manager, working at VA Natural Heritage and at the VA Health Department. Liz loved to play sports, including softball and soccer (indoor & outdoor). She dedicated many years coaching and helping kids to develop their skills in soccer. Liz touched the lives of many people more than she ever knew and will truly be missed.

She is survived by her loving son, Lee Crocker; father, Thomas E. Dean Sr. (Carol); brother, Thomas E. Dean Jr. (Christy); sister, Angela Martin; aunts, Anna Carter, Therese Williams, Judy McCartney and Judy Sims;  two uncles, Johnny Williams; Jimmy Williams, and a host of extended family, and wonderful and special friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, Virginia 23834. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the funeral home.
