Elizabeth "Jackie" Wilkinson

March 20, 1936 — February 14, 2023

Chester

Elizabeth Jacquelin Pickels Wilkinson, affectionately known as Jackie, passed away peacefully at her home of 59 years on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Born March 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Nash Anderson and Rose Houseman Pickels, and was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas “Tommy” Nash Wilkinson; sisters, Margie Pickels Francis (Lewis), Rosemond Reams Oliver, Mary Pickels Crocker; and infant brother, Leigh Anderson Pickels.

Jackie was a member of Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church for 58 years, where she served as church secretary in the 1970s, was the Cherub Choir Director, and led Junior Worship (children’s church) for many years. In the 1980s, she worked in the Chesterfield County Treasurer’s Office, then she worked as a secretary for Vulcan Materials, where she retired after 15 years. Her favorite and most fulfilling job, however, was being a stay-at-home mom for 22 years. Her children were her joy.

She loved working in her yard, creating gorgeous flower beds. Jackie was an animal lover of all kinds, and she enjoyed reading. She served as a cub scout den mother and girl scout troop leader as her children went through the program. She loved children and was a room mother for all five of her children as they went through elementary school. Jackie lived her Christian faith in word, deed, and action. She was kind, thoughtful, and humble and always lived J.O.Y: Jesus, Others, Yourself.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Baker and husband, Houston and their daughter, Maggie; sons, Mike Wilkinson and wife, Leslie; Jeff Wilkinson and wife, Terry and their sons, Gary and Joseph; Bobby Wilkinson and wife, Sherri, and their daughters, Bailey and Ellie; sister-in-law, Nancy Wilkinson; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church, 17120 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at church.
