It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Ellen Sue Watkins Juliano, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, on October 17, 2026 in Deltona, Florida at the age of 66. Ellen was born in Petersburg, Virginia on October 18, 1959.Throughout her life, Ellen Sue had many professional accomplishments, always giving her best and earning a reputation as a dedicated and hardworking woman. Along the way, she made many lifelong friends who became an important part of her life. Ellen devoted more than 30 years to a successful career in sales, beginning in Houston, Texas, in the food brokerage business with Bonnacher and Leigh. She later continued her career in Florida with Nova Sales, Galaxy Foods, and Acosta Sales. Her journey eventually led her to Coca-Cola Bottling’s Orlando Cold Drink Division, where she earned Top Performer awards and became affectionately known as the “Scoreboard Lady.” Through Coca-Cola, she helped provide scoreboards to local high schools, junior high schools, prep schools, and colleges. She went on to represent NEVCO Scoreboards in Florida, earning Top Sales awards for several years. Her career continued with Southeastern Surfaces in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where she gained valuable experience in gymnasium flooring and athletic equipment. With her entrepreneurial spirit and extensive industry knowledge, Ellen established her own company, ElJay Athletic Services. Through her business, she sold and installed scoreboards, gymnasium flooring, athletic equipment, and seating throughout the state of Florida, continuing to serve many of the companies she had previously represented. When declining health made the travel and physical demands of her work increasingly difficult, Ellen retired, leaving behind a career marked by dedication, achievement, and a genuine passion for what she did.Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ellen Sue had an intense and unconditional love for her family, especially her only son, John Jr. Being a mother was one of the most important parts of her life, and her love for him was deep and unwavering. She also adored her three grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy and held a very special place in her heart. Ellen also found tremendous joy in cooking, baking, and creating one-of-a-kind dishes, especially when sharing those experiences with her beloved grandchildren, Corbin, Lola, and Bodhi. She loved making special treats and unique creations for every major holiday. Christmas meant baking cookies using cherished recipes from her mother, Wanda Watkins, and her husband's mother, Patty Juliano. At Easter, she would bake homemade bread and one of her husband's personal favorites, Pizza Gana, a wonderful rustic Italian meat and cheese pie. Ellen also loved decorating her home, inside and out, for every holiday and season, filling it with warmth, beauty, and celebration. She had a special way of making the children feel loved, always remembering their birthdays, accomplishments, and holidays with thoughtful gifts, prizes, and treats. She made every occasion memorable and made those she loved feel truly special. For Ellen, her faith was an important part of who she was, and God had a special place in her heart, this was evident in the way she cared for others. She had an excellent memory and a wonderful sense of humor, with a special gift for making people laugh.Ellen Sue is survived by her devoted husband, John Juliano, with whom she was married for 43 wonderful years; her only son, John Juliano Jr., and his wife, Morgan Juliano; her three beloved grandchildren; Corbin, Lola, and Bodhi and extended family and many dear friends who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wanda and William Watkins; and brother, Stephen Scott Watkins. Most of all, she will be missed by her husband, the one who was blessed to share her life and love. She will forever be his love, his partner, and his one and only “That Blondie Girl". The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. graveside service at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia.
