Elwin Hicks Sr.

Elwin “Woody” Carlos Hicks, Sr., 92, of Colonial Heights passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Born in Newport, Vermont on February 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Guy Sidney and Blanche Hardy Hicks, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Davis Hicks; and daughter, Shelly Hicks Carter. A retired Staff Sergeant for the United States Army, Mr. Hicks proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict He also retired as a Captain of the Petersburg Fire Department.

He is survived by his sons, Elwin “Bubba” C. Hicks, Jr., James “Jamie” S. Hicks (Audrey); daughters, Sandra Hicks Davidson (Henry), Ellen Hicks Whitley (Ralph), Diana “Dinky” Hicks Clements (H.L); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Entombment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in the mausoleum in Southlawn Memorial Park.
