Esther was born July 27, 1940, in Petersburg, Virginia. She went home to the Lord on August 18, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Lester David Pecht and Josephine May Swain Pecht.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Leslie Fuller; her son-in-law, Garvis Rudolph “Rudy” Downey III; her brother, Lester David Pecht, Jr.; and her sister, Jean Gail Pecht Madsen.

Esther is survived by her husband, Prince Leslie Fuller, Jr.; a son, Gregory Hill Fuller and his wife, Jane; a daughter, Mary Catherine Downey; a grandson, David Michael “Mikey” Fuller; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; especially Brenda Story, who has been a great help to the family over the past several years. On September 12, 1959, she married Prince Leslie Fuller, Jr. For nearly 67 years, they built a life and raised a family together. She was the master of her house. She raised three children, and just as her youngest finished high school, she began again, raising her grandson as her own. She kept a beautiful home and was a wonderful cook and baker. She catered for events and made elaborate cakes for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations. The neighborhood children knew the Fuller house was a good place to visit. If they stayed long enough, they might even be invited to dinner. She also loved to read and hunt for treasures at yard sales, thrift stores, and antique shops. A longtime member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Esther taught generations of women how to cook, decorate their homes, set a proper table, and throw a fabulous dinner party. Her famous yeast rolls and sweet tea were always part of the lesson. For decades, she also led Mount Pleasant's soup kitchen ministry, helping prepare and serve lunch in Petersburg with other local churches through Downtown Churches United. Her service also extended to the men's and women's recovery homes supported by Regenesis Thrift. She hosted tea parties for the women and cooked meals and desserts for the men, making sure they were never left out. In her later years, Esther watched the broadcasts of First Baptist Church of Richmond and enjoyed attending services at the churches where her grandson served in music ministry.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 26, 2026  at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Ave, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery Petersburg, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.
