With great sadness, we announce the passing of Frederick M. Baehr, Jr., who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 7, 2026. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 28, 1943, but resided in Virginia for the last 28 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Valerie Kane (Tim) and Jane Baehr; five grandsons, Freddy, Daniel, and Chris Kane and Joey and Nicholas Northrup; his sister, Phyllis Houston, and her girls, Dottie, Anna, and Kathleen.

Preceded in death to welcome him into eternal rest is his loving wife of 50 years, Josephine Baehr; his mother, Elizabeth “Bessie” Baehr; his father, Frederick Baehr, Sr.; and his sisters, Ellie, Cassie, Nancy, and Marion.

Fred joined the United States Army and learned the trade of carpentry. He retired after many dedicated years as a carpenter and took great pride in building and fixing up houses. He also loved his home by the sea in Cape May, NJ, before moving to Virginia to be near his family. Fred also loved to cook, especially turkey dinner at Christmas and Thanksgiving.

The family deeply appreciates all of the prayers and support during this difficult time.

A private burial will take place in Southlawn Memorial Park, S Prince George, VA. Arrangements are by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
