Geneva Taylor James, 84, of Petersburg, Virginia passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Born on January 20, 1938 in Elberton, Georgia she was the daughter of the late Eustage L. Taylor and Janie Mae Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Hoyt F. James Sr. and two sons, Hoyt James Jr. and Marty James.
Geneva loved meeting and talking with people while working at Walmart as a sales associate in their electronic department for over 20 years. She is known for her caring, kind-hearted, generous personality and tasteful sense of fashion. She was a faithful Christian woman, and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who loved spending her time with her family, listening to gospel and country music and staying stylish.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheri J. Spencer (Wilson) and Julie J. Boyce; daughter-in-law, Juanita James; grandchildren, Stephanie James, Wendy Fields (Robert), Patrick Stevens (Victoria), Alex James (Ashley), Eric Boyce and Dylan Simmons; great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Hunter, Tyler, Landon, Angela, Andrew, Corbin and Jesse; one great-great-grandchild, Daxton and many other extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the funeral home.
