George Traylor Elder Jr.

George Traylor Elder, Jr., 80, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. He was born on March 9, 1945, to the late George Traylor Elder, Sr. and Esther Crocker Elder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ann Marie Hinds, Phillip Elder, and Larry Elder, and daughter-in-law, Patti Elder.

George was the proud owner and operator of Elder’s Garage, where he faithfully served his community for 50 years. Beyond his work, George had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Deborah S. Elder; his children, George Elder III., Robert Elder, and Nick Elder and wife, Nicole; grandchildren, Gage, Addie, Lila, Hudson, Gina, Angie, and Carrie; numerous great-grandchildren; his sister, Wanda Elder White; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend Max White officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
