George Richard “Georgie” Golding Jr., 63, of Dinwiddie, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2026, holding the hand of his loving husband. Born on July 24, 1962, in Hanover, Virginia, George lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for those around him. To everyone who knew him, he was simply Georgie, a gentle soul who never met a stranger. He had a gift for conversation, could tell a story like no one else, and always made people feel welcome. Whether you had known him for years or had just met him, George had a remarkable way of making you feel like family. George was preceded in death by his parents, George Richard Golding Sr. and Mary Kipp Golding; his brother, Frank D. Golding; and his longtime partner, Fred Kennedy, who passed away in 2018. He is survived by his devoted husband, Bryson Lee Ricks-Golding, whom he married on August 23, 2023; his beloved stepsons, Kona Bryson Ricks and Keegan Gunnar Ricks; his sisters, Alice Golding Ferguson and her husband, Bill, and Diana K. Golding; his mother-in-law, Amanda Ricks-Hagert; his sister-in-law, Dharma G. Baker and her husband, Travis; their son, Gnash Lee Baker, whom George dearly loved; his cherished beagle, Spaghetti; as well as several nephews, a niece, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him. George took great pride in his career with Aireco, where he genuinely loved both his work and the people alongside whom he worked. Outside of his career, he found joy in traveling, relaxing at the beach, attending concerts, spending time with family, and connecting with fellow amateur radio enthusiasts through his passion for ham radio.
Anyone who knew George knew they could always count on him. He was the person who showed up without being asked, who could fix just about anything, and who was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend, neighbor, or family member. He consistently put others before himself and found genuine happiness in helping those around him. His love for dogs was undeniable, and they held a special place in his heart throughout his life. Although his passing leaves an immeasurable void, George's kindness, laughter, generosity, and unforgettable stories will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. His legacy is one of compassion, selflessness, and unconditional love. The family will receive friends on Monday July 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A private celebration of George's life will be held by the family at a later date. In honoring George's memory, his family encourages everyone to extend kindness to someone in need, lend a helping hand, share a good story, and never take the people you love for granted. There is no better way to celebrate the beautiful life he lived. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
