Hazel Marie Able, 90, of Petersburg passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022 at her home. Born April 12, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William Charles and Goldie Garrett Anderson and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Inman; sisters, Lillie Glass, Jean Russo and Dee Able and brothers, Ryland and Dickie Singleton.
After 10 years of dedicated service, Hazel retired from the Little Sisters of the Poor. She was an avid BINGO player and also loved playing slot machines. Every Sunday morning, she would be tuned in to watch her favorite pastor, Charles Stanley, preach the word of God. She also had a deep love for all animals and cherished her baby, Buster.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Ann Ali; son, Jefferson Able Sr. and wife, Priscilla; son-in-law, Jim Inman; nine grandchildren, Paula Danner and husband, Christopher, Kenneth Inman and wife, Tabitha, Tina Lewis and husband, Timothy Lewis Sr., Walker Able, Thomas Danner and partner, Tiffany, Jefferson Able Jr. and partner, Alison, Christie Able, Charles Able and John Able and wife, Jamie; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; sister, Joan Jude and husband, T.D. and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the funeral home.
