Helen P. Cain (92) of Carson, VA passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of May 1, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Helen was born in Chesterfield County and a lifelong resident of Carson, VA; the daughter of the late Clifton Arthur and Ruby Wilson Perkinson.

In her early years, Helen grew up on a family farm, in an era, where days were filled with planting/harvesting tobacco, corn and vegetables were the norm and shared the enjoyment of living the simple life.

While attending grade school, she met the love of her life – Bobby and decided then, to make him ‘hers’ and in 1952 they made it official and became Mr. & Mrs. Bobby L. Cain. She worked for Montgomery Wards in downtown Petersburg in retail sales. When Montgomery Wards closed, she worked closer to home at PB Halligan’s as a cashier while she was raising her family making sure to be present for their extracurricular activities (school sports). She loved her family and loved to talk to anyone that would listen.

She loved NASCAR Racing and was a die hard, Jeff Gordon fan; Chocolate and ice cream were her favorite ‘go to’ when she wanted a treat; often gifting boxes of Russel Stover Chocolates to her ‘favorite people’; Loved everything Christmas, always wanting to start decorating in early October and leaving the ‘lights on’ until mid-January, to enjoy their beauty. She would throw out a sniglet (humorous word made up to describe something for which no dictionary word exists) or two just to make you think or laugh.

She is survived by her children, Loraine Cerna (the late Carlos), Kathy Cain (Cindy Covell), Wanda L. Cain and son Bobby L. Cain, Jr (Ginger). As well as sister Ruby Leonard (John) and brother Warren Perkinson (Crystal); Sisters in law Essie Cain (the late Billie Cain, Sr) and Judy Montecalvo (the late Vinny). Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Family that preceded her in the afterlife, husband of 73 years, Bobby L. Cain, Sr, sister Agnes Orton, brother Floyd Perkinson, twin sisters Geanette Crowder and Garnette Savage.

We would like to thank the medial support team Adoration Home Health (formally At Home Care); At Home Hospice; Retreat Hospital Wound Clinic; Bon Secures Cancer Institute at St Frances, our family and the ladies that devoted themselves to her daily care – Gloria Graves, Alecia Pair, Nafa Pair and Gwen Johnson. We’re so grateful these teams loved and treated her with grace, compassion and dignity.
