Ingeborg Blackwell

Ingeborg Lewis “Inge” Blackwell, 94, of Petersburg, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Born in Kässel, Germany on April 3, 1927, she was the oldest of five children born to the late Erich V. and Hildegard Jäeger Andrischok; and was preceded in death by her husbands, SSG Robert C. “RC” Lewis, USA and LTC Eugene B. “Gene” Blackwell, USA (ret.); brothers, Arno H.V. Andrischok, Erich V. Andrischok and Adolf G. Andrischok; a sister, Hildegard R. Brauer; and her beloved dalmatian, Ginger.

Inge had a love for dolls, crocheting and baking cookies, all of which she generously made and shared with so many friends throughout the years.  In her spare time, she enjoyed watching court TV shows, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and early morning walks around her neighborhood. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her kind, sweet, giving soul.

She is survived by her loving and devoted nephew, Jeffrey A. “Jeff” Constantine (Ellen); great-nephews, Phillip A. Constantine, Stephen A. Constantine and Nicholas A. Constantine; niece, Susanne S. Andrischok; sister-in-law, Klärchen Andrischok; brother-in-law, Harry Brauer; several nieces and nephews residing in Virginia, Maryland and Germany.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805.  Interment will be private.  We would like to thank Crater Community Hospice for their comfort and compassionate care, especially Jennifer Fisher & Tracee McKensie; to Michelle Faulk, Janet Patterson & Darlene Lane for their loving devotion and around the clock nursing care; and to Inge’s friends, Sara Turner, Pat Resnick & Lois Clark for their uplifting visits, food and goodies.
