James Allen Bogan, 73, of South Prince George, VA went home to the Lord on August 7, 2026. He was the late son of Wilton W. Bogan Sr. and Minnie Opal Bogan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Bogan and Larry Bogan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Marian Sandford Bogan, brother, Kenny Bogan, half-brother, Wilton W. Bogan Jr. (Jaime), half-sister, Bertha (Marie) Bradshaw, sons, James Bogan Jr. (Sabrina), Leonard (Brandon) Bogan, step-daughters, Dana Richey (Erik), Kelli Gibbs, grandchildren, Nathan Byrd, Ashlyn West, Lauryn West, Lucas Richey, Ezra Richey, Ashly Gentry, great-granddaughter, Annabelle Williams, and beloved dog, Bella.

After serving the city of Hopewell for 41 years, James liked to keep himself busy, usually found tinkling around in his garage or caring for the wild birds in the backyard. He enjoyed spending a lot of his time outside, camping, fishing, and gardening. James also kept up with his buddies at the Hopewell Moose Lodge.

The family will welcome friends on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 3935 South Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m.
