James Edward Lewis Sr., 85, of Dinwiddie, VA went home to the Lord on August 29, 2026. He was the late son of Frank and Lena Lewis. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Emily Nanny Lewis, brothers, Frank Lewis and Robert Lewis, and sister, Shirley Lewis.

He is survived by his devoted girlfriend and caregiver, Helen Branch Richardson, sister, Lena Pearl, sister-in-law, Laverna Lewis, son, James Edward Lewis Jr (Monica), daughter, Deborah Lewis, granddaughter, Lexi Splawn (Jordan), grandson, Brodie Lewis, great-grandchildren, Nevie Splawn, Raven Splawn, Reese Lewis, nieces, Janet Turner (Donald), Michaelle Direnzo (Chris), Lisa Hudson, Londa Spithaler, nephews, Brian Lewis (Donna), Anthony Lewis, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved cat, Jack.

James was proud of his 40+ years of work as a general contractor, proudly building homes and being able to fix anything. Many remember him for his love of baseball, his skill told among many fond memories. He also loved fishing and spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

James will be missed in the hearts of many. Arrangements are being held by the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes.
