James Allen Reith, Jr., 66, of Petersburg passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Born November 13, 1957 in Hopewell, Virginia, he was the son of the late Phyllis Norwood and James Allen Reith, Sr., and was also preceded in death by his brother, Jeffery Norwood Reith.
James was a former member of Oakland Baptist Church in Prince George, where he served as a Deacon for many years.
A retired driver for the VA, James spent numerous years providing a crucial service to veterans by taking them to their various doctor’s appointments. His selfless contributions to the well-being of others showcased his unwavering commitment to supporting those who served our country. James also worked in construction alongside his father.
He was an avid pool player, finding camaraderie in the game. His love for the Washington Commanders and Virginia Tech Football was infectious, and he could often be found cheering passionately for his favorite teams.
As a member of the Manchester Moose Lodge, James embraced the sense of community and camaraderie that the organization offered.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Martin and husband, Seth; grandchildren, Magnolia and Willow Martin; sister, Valerie Reith Kitchen and husband, Randy Lee; nephew, Ryan Lee Kitchen; niece, Haley Kitchen Ashley and husband, Trellis; and other extended family members.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening November 21, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com
