James Monroe Teems Jr. 88, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024. Born in Cummings, Georgia to the late James Monroe and Avice Buice Teems. He is also preceded in passing by his brother, William Sanford Teems, of Barnesville, Georgia; sisters, Dorothy Aleene Mayfield, of Norcross, Georgia, and Helen Jeannette Bunn of Barnesville, Georgia; nephews, Ricky Alan McPherson, of Norcross, Georgia, and Jimmy Bunn of Barnesville, Georgia; and niece, Debra Fay McPherson, of Winder Georgia.
James was a very decorated serviceman. He proudly served his country in both the Korean, and Vietnam wars. James was incredibly well decorated, and even earned himself a Bronze Star. When he retired from the Army, he volunteered with the Virginia Defense Force, and earned the rank of Major, before retiring at the age of 75. James had many enjoyments in life such as fishing, and animals. He also loved taking his wife to flea markets, and he loved baseball cards. He was also a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves. James had a passion for travel, and has been all over the country, and world. He also loved country music, and going to country music concerts.
James is survived by his loving wife, Ok; nieces, Lisa Fisher, of Barnesville, Georgia, Stacey Fisher, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Teresa Fowler, of Ballground, Georgia; and his nephew, Jeff Bunn, of Barensville, Georgia, He is also survived by numerous friends.
Services are private and are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small. Condolences may be registered online at ealvinsmall.com.
