In Loving Memory of James Wallace Spivey
James Wallace Spivey, born on November 25, 1929 (age 93), of Colonial
Heights, Virginia went to be with the Lord on November 20, 2023
surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his father, William
Wallace Spivey, his mother, Viola Vaughn Spivey, two brothers, Talmedge D.
Spivey and Braxton D. Spivey, and his sister, Virginia Wise Fennell.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Bailey Spivey. He was a devoted husband
to Joyce for 68 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Stacy Ackerman,
his son-in-law, Chris Ackerman, his three grandchildren, and his brother
Kenneth Carrington Spivey of North Carolina.
A man of faith, Wallace was actively involved in Mount Pleasant Baptist
Church serving as a deacon for many years. His faithful service to the
church and community were a reflection of his deep spiritual convictions.
At age 17, Wallace enlisted and proudly served as a United States Marine, a
source of great pride throughout his life. His commitment to duty and honor
was evident in his every action. After his military service, Wallace “Jim”
worked in many supervisory roles at Dupont until his retirement in 1989.
James Wallace Spivey’s departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his
memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his kindness,
love, and unwavering commitment to his family, his work, and his country.
May he rest in eternal peace.
A burial service to honor Wallace will take place on Thursday, November 30,
at 3:00 p.m. at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia. Condolences may be registered online at ealvinsmall.com
