Janie W. Ozmore, 87, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on December 21, 2025, at Bon Secours Petersburg Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jannie Whirley; her brother, William Ross Whirley; and her sisters, Margaret Clary and Ruby Anderson.
Janie is survived by her devoted husband, Linwood Ozmore; her daughter, Robyn Moody; her son, Kevin Moody, and his wife, Laura; and her cherished granddaughter, Hannah Moody. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Janie worked for Titmus Optical before choosing to stay home and raise her family. Later, she worked as a toll collector on the Richmond Petersburg Turnpike until her retirement in 1993.
She loved traveling with her sister and brother-in-law, especially to Daytona Beach, Florida, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and she never passed up a chance to head to Disney World with her children. Janie also enjoyed playing Bingo and attending country music concerts, always happy to be out and about doing something she loved.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Virginia 23805. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
