Jack grew up in Daytona Beach, FL. After high school, he spent a year at the Naval Academy, graduated from the University of Florida, and served 4 years in the U.S. Army. He then worked for Ford Motor Company in Savannah, GA, where he met the love of his life, Lucy, on a blind date. The young family moved to Florida for seven years as Jack began his career with Hallmark Cards. In 1974, the family moved to Colonial Heights, Virginia, where he lived for the next 30 years. Jack and Lucy bought and operated Jane's Hallmark Shoppe in Hopewell, VA and The Pink Cadillac in Carytown (Richmond, VA). He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and School where Jack served for many years in several different leadership roles.
In 2004, after the death of his beloved Lucy, Jack moved to La Grange, Kentucky, He spent many happy years making new friends through various organizations and activities in Kentucky. But his biggest joy came from watching his grandchildren grow up and be an important part of their lives not only in Kentucky, but also in Virginia and North Carolina where he frequently traveled. We could all count on Dad and Grandpa for advice, guidance, rides to and from practices, cheering on all the sports teams, theatre and dance performances. Proudly being present for awards assemblies, graduations from middle schools, high schools, and colleges.
He was a UVA football season ticket holder for almost 30 years. In the fall, you would find Jack at every Cavalier home game, cheering on the Hoos! Wahoowa!
