Johnny Dale Fogel, 66, of Carson, Virginia, a loving father, friend and family man passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, of complications from COVID-19. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged with 100% service-related disability. Late in life, John went to school and got his degree in CAD drawing being inducted to the national honor society. John loved family gatherings, his close friends made at NA meetings, and in spite of all of his complaints about them, all the pets his family would bring home to live with him. He celebrated 25 years clean in August of 2021. He enjoyed rock and roll, especially Led Zeppelin, and watching tv in his lounge chair. He will be missed for his generous heart, his hearty laugh, and his ability to nap anywhere at any time. He was the kind of father that every kid wishes they had. He was giving and selfless of his time and love. He was a rock and a soft shoulder with constant wit and humor. He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Fogel; his brother, Jeffrey Fogel; and his best friend, Rodney Brooks. He is survived by his three children, John W Fogel (Ann Mitchell), Diana Fogel and Apryl Marie Fogel (Jeff Pitts); his mother, Kumiko Fogel; three sisters, Joann Warren, Nancy Fogel, and Maryann Maxey (E.N. Maxey); brother, Jimmy Fogel (Mert Fogel); six grandchildren, Sterling Howell, Aiden and Ethan Fogel and Isabella, Vincent and Theodore Fogel; his ex-wife, Wanda Brooks, and her mother, Viola Gibson; his sponsor, Butch Carr; and countless friends. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, Va. 23805. Arrangements are being handled by the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes.
