Joseph Cooper

Joseph C. Cooper, 78, of Colonial Heights passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022. Born July 31, 1943, he was the son of the late Annie Edmundson and Stonewall Jackson Cooper, and was also preceded in death by his son, Christopher Scott Cooper.

He was a lifetime member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC and also attended Destination Church. He retired in 2003 after a dedicated 33-year railway engineer career, having worked for Seaboard Coastline Railroad (now CSX) for 17 years, and then transferring to Amtrack for the remainder of his tenure.

Joseph enjoyed cars and talking about his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Lenelle Baldwin Cooper; son, Joseph “Jay” C. Cooper II; three grandchildren, Michael S. Cooper and wife, Jordan, Amanda G. Cooper, Travis S. Cooper; other extended family members and many beloved friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will be private.
