Joseph Tambe

Joseph Thomas Tambe, 92 of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, in Petersburg, Virginia.  He was preceded in death by his wife Millicent Jones Tambe and son, Randolph Joseph Kevin Tambe.  Joseph is survived by a daughter, Carey Tambe Whelan of Petersburg, Virginia; a son, Christopher Brook Tambe of Carmen, Idaho; three grandchildren, Carly Allison Whelan of Richmond, Virginia, Virginia Helen Tambe of Boise, Idaho, and Eugene Kevin Whelan II “Beau” of Colonial Heights, Virginia; a sister, Mary J Tambe-Papadopoulos (Thomas) of Manhasset, New York; two nieces and one nephew.  Joseph retired as a colonel from the United States Army in 1977.  He was a professor of business administration and finance at Virginia State University.  He received his Doctor of Education from William and Mary.  After relocating to Emerald Isle, North Carolina, he taught at UNC Wilmington and Carteret Community College for several years.  A graveside service at Seaside Memorial Park, 1161 Hammock Beach Rd, Swansboro, NC 28584 will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
