Kathrine Bolton Kimbrough-Cook, 91, of Rockingham, North Carolina, formerly of Ivor, Virginia, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at her home, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Warren County, North Carolina on January 3, 1935, to the late James Wright Bolton and Thelma Lee Felts Bolton.
With grateful hearts for a life well lived and a faith that never wavered, we remember a beloved woman whose gentle spirit touched everyone she met. A member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church, she dearly loved her church family and faithfully loved the Lord Jesus Christ throughout her life.
Originally from Ivor, Virginia, she recently made her home in Rockingham, North Carolina, due to declining health, with Leo and Barbara McCauley. Everyone who met her loved her, and many of her children's friends affectionately called her "Mom," a reflection of the warmth, kindness, and unconditional love she shared so freely.
She found great joy in cooking and baking, and her homemade baked goods were a treasured gift to family and friends. She also enjoyed spending quiet moments working puzzles. Her greatest gift, however, was the love she poured into others through simple acts of kindness and service.
She will be remembered for having the sweetest spirit, a selfless heart, and a gentle soul. She never wanted to hurt anyone's feelings and always put the needs of others before her own. Her compassion, generosity, and unwavering faith in Christ left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her. Her legacy of love, grace, and devotion to Jesus will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Along with her parents, Kathrine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Cook; first husband, Ernest Duvall Kimbrough; granddaughter, Krystal Dawn; brothers, Wright Bolton, Jr and William “Red” Bolton; and sister, Gladys Crowe.
Kathrine is survived by daughters, Lou Whittaker and Barbara McCauley (Leo), all of Rockingham, NC; sons, Wayne Kimbrough (Sue) of Hampstead, NC and Ernest Kimbrough (Debbie) of Prince George, Virginia; many grandchildren and a recent great grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S Prince George, VA.
Memorials may be made to Krystal Dawn Retreat, PO Box 2062, Rockingham, NC 28379.
