Kay Quinn Walker, 88, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025. Born in Duplin County, North Carolina on August 30, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Ernest L. and S. Javan Jarman Quinn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raeford W. Walker, and her brother, Ronald S. Quinn.
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine S. Walker; her son, William Q. “Bill” Walker; sister, Susan Houston (Leroy); and much-loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Kay retired after 32 dedicated years in education as a teacher and as an elementary counselor. During her years as a counselor, she was selected as Virginia’s Elementary Counselor of the year. She was a longtime member of Highland United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Kay felt very blessed to serve in several positions of leadership.
The family would like to give special thanks to the team at Dunlop House Assisted Living for the kind and compassionate care that Kay received.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Highland United Methodist Church, 125 E Westover Avenue, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
