Kevin Joseph Joyce

Kevin Joseph Joyce, 67, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday November 7, 2023. Born July 22, 1956, he was the son of the late, William Joseph and Mary Brown Joyce.

Kevin was a United States Navy veteran of 18 1/2 years, serving in Desert Storm. After leaving the Navy, he worked as a sales representative for Bath Planet for two years and as a bartender at Pietros in Chester, Virginia.

He was also a longtime umpire and referee for rec leagues and youth sports such as softball, basketball, football, and mostly baseball. He was a passionate advocate for youth sports and loved helping young athletes develop their skills and learn the game.

In his spare time, Kevin enjoyed working with plastic canvas. He was a skilled craftsman and created many beautiful pieces.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Linda Slaughter Joyce; two sons, Trey Davis and wife, Rachel, Kevin Davis and wife, Anne; grandchildren, Jacob Tharp, Mia Davis, Jonathan Davis, Elizabeth Davis, Kasey Davis, Piper Davis; great-grandchildren, Lela Hall, Raegan Hall, Weston Tharp; sister, Stephanie Fredricksen and husband, Reidar Olsen; brothers-in-law, Larry Slaughter and wife, Peiling, Keith Slaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday night, November 13, 2023 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
