Larry Bivins Jefferson

Larry Bivins Jefferson, 82, of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.  Larry was born December 30, 1941, to Milton and Lillian Jefferson of Petersburg.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shaaron Jefferson, and brother Frank Jefferson (Sandra).   He is survived by his daughter, Kelly J. Wilson (Pat), stepdaughters, Christine T. Ramsey (Billy), and Stacey Meyer (Brad).  He was an amazing PAPA to Meade and Jack Wilson, Haley Sammler, Preston Ramsey, Kaysea Ramsey, Morgan Beasley, Caleb Meyer, and many, many others whom he loved and always considered to be his “grandchildren.”  He is also survived by his sister Louise Daniel (Eugene), his nephews Mark Jefferson, Todd Jefferson (Raquel), John Daniel (Allison), and his niece Elizabeth Faulkner (Ronnie).  Larry always lived life to the fullest, and he never met a stranger.  He recently rekindled a special friendship with Marcia Whitmore, with whom he loved spending special time.  Larry was a graduate of Petersburg High School (Class of 1960).  After retiring from his many years in the optical business (Titmus Optical and Zeiss), Larry (also known by many as the “GOAT”), enjoyed spending his time on the Fairways at the Highlands golf club or any other golf course, bopping to beach music, and following his grandchildren’s hobbies and sports.  He was a prior member of The Virginians Barbershop Chorus and Dockside Harmony Quartet.  A graveside service will be held Friday, March 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in Southlawn Memorial Park 1911 Birdsong Road S. Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 3935 S.
