Lawrence “Larry” Howard Bickings, 75, of South Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024. He was born in Petersburg, Virginia, on January 22, 1949, to Howard Major and Essie Taylor Bickings.

Larry began working for Hercules Hopewell Plant, eventually becoming President of the Union. After leaving the plant, he became a real estate broker. Larry became a site acquisition agent in the wireless industry, helping to establish hundreds of cell phone towers across multiple states. Besides his love for working, Larry also was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Sussex Newville Hunt Club for many years. He was also a member of the Stranders of Society (SOS), where he enjoyed shag dancing with his wife, Rose.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Howard Bickings. He is survived by his wife, Rose W. Bickings; mother, Essie Bickings; daughters, Cheri Taylor (Morris), Audra Bickings (Brett), and Emily Da Silva (Rui); stepchildren, Diane Valenta (Bryan) and Tom Douglas (Missy); grandchildren, Ashton and Nolan Taylor, Vivian and Rafael Da Silva, Cara Proctor, and Collin Baird; great-grandchildren, Bryson Casey and Bristol Proctor; sister, Robin Furr (Jim); cousins who are like brothers, Marc and Reed Reynolds; numerous nieces; beloved hunting dogs, Molly, Huntley, and Beau; and many other extended family members and close friends that are like family. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Woods United Methodist Church, 7200 Hickory Road, S.
