Laymon H. Vinson 81, of Prince George, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at John Randolph Medical Center. He was born November 18, 1936 in Texas, to the late Arthur H. and Beatrice Cole Vinson and was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Agerton Vinson and a brother, Richard H. Vinson. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired after 30 years of service from Fort Lee Civil Service. Mr. Vinson was instrumental in the founding of Ponderosa Steakhouse, Go-Kart Village, and Batter's Choice Sporting Goods, on S. Crater Road, over a 30-year period. He is survived by; two sons, Darryn M. Vinson and wife, Gervaise of Prince George, and Kevin S. Vinson and wife, Cyndee of Prince George; three grandchildren, Lauren G. and Emily G. Vinson and Avery S. Vinson. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 3935 S. Crater Road Petersburg, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend David Prather officiating. Interment will be Private.
