Lillian Marie Saunders-Mawyer

Lillian Marie Saunders-Mawyer, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the age of 81. She was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Marie Mawyer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Saunders; sisters, Mary Quick and Mildred Mawyer; her brother, Thurman Mawyer; and her grandson, David Cliborne.

Lillian had a passion for watching Hallmark movies and soap operas, but her true joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a gentle soul with a spark for life that quickly endeared her to all who knew her. 

Lillian is survived by her three children, Loretta Cliborne (husband, David Cliborne), David Saunders, and Diane Williams (husband, Steve Mixson); her grandchildren, Crystal Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Heather Martin (husband, Chris Martin), and Ashlee Cliborne; her great-grandchildren, Easton Martin, Paisley Howard, Kayliegh Cliborne, and Trenton Lewis; her sister, Shirley Bradley; and her brothers, Fletcher Mawyer and Warren Mawyer. 

A celebration of Lillian's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 , at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Lillian's family and friends will come together to honor her memory and share stories of the joy and love she brought to all who knew her. 

Though Lillian's physical presence may be gone, her spirit and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in peace and find eternal happiness in the arms of her Lord and Savior.
