Lorine Davis Harrup, 98, of Chesterfield, VA, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Chippenham Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Davis, Sr. and Emma Gertrude Lufsey Davis, born to them on Friday the 13th of May 1927 in Petersburg, VA. She married Dennis Floyd Harrup, Sr. on June 26, 1942. They had one son, Dennis F. Harrup, Jr. in 1943.
Known by many nicknames such as “Dang”, “Auntie”, “Dauntie”, “Nana”, and “Rene”, Lorine was a firecracker of a woman, always bringing humor and smiles wherever she went. She will be remembered by her contagious laugh, unwavering love, and the way she would worry about every little thing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis, who went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2010, and her three brothers, Robert Lee “Shakey” Davis, Jr., Merle Eugene “Gene” Davis, and Russell Wayne “Butch” Davis.
She leaves behind a large family who adores her, including her son, Dennis and his wife, Brenda of Chesterfield, VA; grandson, Dennis F. “Chip” Harrup, III and his wife, Lisa of McKenny, VA; great-granddaughter, Kathryn (Brian) Poe of Fort Wayne, IN; great-grandson, Dennis F. Harrup, IV of Manassas, VA; bonus great-granddaughter, Rachel (Josh) Grim of Chesterfield, VA; extra special great-great-grandson, Hudson Arthur Poe of Fort Wayne, IN; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Wiles Davis of Disputanta, VA; as well as many nieces and nephews she had the pleasure to care for and watch grow. Although she had only one biological child, she considered at least a dozen more to be hers, too.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S Prince George, VA.
